With only 1 telecast included in the weekly average this week, rather than last week's 2, both CTV's 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'Young Sheldon' saw week-to-week rises in the Canadian National ratings.
Monday:As expected, City's 'Manifest' dropped out of the top 30 this week. Averaging just 512,000 L+SD viewers last week and 962,000 in L+7, it's reasonable that it averaged less than 1.08 million viewers this week - the viewership for the 30th ranked program on the week.
'The Good Doctor,' on CTV, was Monday's highest-viewed program with 2.64 million viewers (#3), a slight rise from last week's 2.63 million. Lead-in 'Magnum PI' (1.39 million, #23) lost more than 600K viewers from last week (2.02 million), while 'The Resident' (1.5 million, #19) saw positive growth (up from 1.11 million). Both Global's '9-1-1' (1.93 million, #8) and 'Bull' (1.58 million, #15) saw decreases from last week (2.19 million/1.84 million).
Tuesday:On Global, 'NCIS: New Orleans' led off the night with 1.22 million viewers, down a tick from last week (1.24 million). 'FBI' saw tremendous retention from last week, only losing about 40K viewers, averaging 2.22 million this week (#5). 'NCIS' saw sizable week-to-week growth, jumping to 2.02 million viewers (#6), up from 1.94 million. But the story of Tuesday was 'New Amsterdam,' which not only led the night (2.36 million, #4), but also rose 120K viewers from last week.
On CTV, 'This Is Us' (1.7 million, #12) grew almost 600K viewers from its 'The Voice' (1.14 million, #28) lead-in, both were down from last week.
Wednesday:'Survivor,' on Global (2 million, #7), dipped slightly from last week (2.05 million), though still took the top spot on the night. Lead-out 'SEAL Team' premiered its new season to the tune of 1.18 million viewers (#26), up slightly from its spring 2018 finale numbers (1.07 million). 'Chicago PD' capped off the night with a significant 300K rise from that lead-in, averaging 1.45 million viewers (#20).
On CTV, 'Grey's Anatomy' (1.42 million, #21) led into the season premiere of 'Criminal Minds' (1.77 million, #10). Although the latter is seeing series-lows in the United States, premiere numbers indicate it still has an audience north of the border.
Coverage of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sportsnet National+ ranked 14th on the week with 1.62 million viewers.
Thursday:CTV's 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'Young Sheldon' both saw very positive performances, ranking 1 and 2 on both Thursday and the week as a whole. 'Big Bang' averaged 3.72 million viewers, while 'Young Sheldon' dropped 1 million, averaging 2.72 million.
