Cebu City halts senior citizen's vaccinations

THE Cebu City Vaccination Operations Center (VOC) has suspended the vaccination of senior citizens starting 12 p.m., April 23, 2021.

This, as the more than 5,000 doses of Sinovac allocated for the city's seniors have all been used up after five days of vaccinating the elderly.

The first day of senior citizens' vaccination was on April 19, 2021.

Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak said the vaccinations will resume as soon as the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7) delivers a new batch of vaccines.

SINCE the start of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Davao City generated around 600 tons of garbage per day, according to the Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro).

Cenro head Marivic Reyes said the city's average volume of collected garbage is around 600 to 650 tons per day since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the city in March 2020 until present.

24 vaccinated persons die; FDA says deaths not linked to vaccine

THE Department of Health (DOH) said 24 individuals who received coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines had died, but their deaths were "coincidental and totally unrelated to the vaccine."

The National Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) Council also counted 344 serious adverse events such as severe allergic reactions which required hospitalization.

DOH officials stressed that the benefits of taking the vaccine far outweigh the risks.

In a statement Friday, April 23, 2021, DOH said Secretary Francisco Duque III has received his first dose as a senior citizen belonging to Priority Group A2.
