Benjamin Earl King^] (September 28, 1938 – April 30, 2015), known as Ben E. King, was an American soul and R&B singer and record producer. He was perhaps best known as the singer and co-composer of "Stand by Me"—a US Top 10 hit, both in 1961 and later in 1986 (when it was used as the theme to the film of the same name), a number one hit in the UK in 1987, and as one of the principal lead singers of the R&B vocal group the Drifters.

Benjamin E. King, conhecido como Ben E. King  (28 de setembro de 1938 — 30 de abril de 2015), foi um cantor de Soul americano. Nasceu em Henderson, Carolina do Norte, mas mudou-se para o Harlem, em New York, com a idade de 9 anos. Ele é talvez mais conhecido como vocalista e co-compositor da música "Stand by Me" do álbum Don't Play That Song gravado em 1961 e lançado em 1962 pela gravadora Atco Records.

Stand By Me is a 1986 American coming of age drama adventure film directed by Rob Reiner and starring Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Richard Dreifuss, etc. Based on Stephen King's novella The Body the title is derived from the Ben E. King song of the same name, which plays over the opening and end credits. The film tells the story of four boys who go on a hike across the countryside to view the dead body of a missing child.

King (que toca durante os créditos finais) e é baseado no conto The Body (no Brasil, "O Outono da Inocência - O Corpo", presente na coletânea "As Quatro Estações"), de Stephen King.
